Alkimia Interactive Updates Gothic 1 Remake Demo Based on Player Feedback

A couple of months ago, Alkimia Interactive released a public demo of Gothic 1 Remake, offering players a short prologue that takes place before the events of the main game. Since then, more than 15,000 users have taken part in a survey, the results of which led the developers to implement various improvements to the demo.

Key changes include increased protagonist movement speed, enhanced world interaction animations, and tweaks to the combat system. These updates reflect the studio’s development philosophy, which emphasizes close communication with the player community. In a new developer diary, the team shared insights into the production process and reiterated that the remake is being created primarily for fans of the original Gothic.

One notable feature of the demo is the choice of protagonist — instead of the iconic Nameless Hero, players control a lesser-known prisoner named Nyras, who is trying to adapt to life in the colony under the magical barrier. This perspective offers a fresh take on the familiar world.

So far, the demo has received nearly 6,000 reviews on Steam, with 78% rated as "Mostly Positive", showing strong support from the community and a positive overall reception.

The full release of Gothic 1 Remake is still without a confirmed date, but the developers state that it will arrive “soon.” The game is planned for release on PC (via Steam and GOG), as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
