Trash Goblin 1.0 Is Finally Here, Release Date and Trailer

You might not think that being a small goblin surrounded by literal trash would be your ideal fantasy, but Trash Goblin has been quietly building a cult following for a reason. After months in Early Access and several chunky updates, the cozy yet chaotic shopkeeping sim is finally launching into version 1.0 on May 28 for PC via Steam. It's packing new features, fresh areas, and way more junk to clean, polish, and sell to all your weird little customers.

The 1.0 update is more than just a bit of polish – it’s basically doubling the entire game’s size. You can check out the official 1.0 trailer on Steam now, wishlist the game, or prep your gold coins for launch day. Get ready to chisel.

Rising Star indie game developer Spilt Milk Studios is thrilled to reveal that their ‘Very Positive’ rated wholesome shopkeeping game Trash Goblin, will finally emerge out of Early Access on May 28th for £14.99/ $19.99/ €18.99!

If you’ve been hoarding semi-clean trinkets in the hopes of a grand rework, now’s your time to shine. Let’s talk about what’s new in this massive update before we get into beginner strategies.

What’s New in Trash Goblin 1.0?

This isn’t just a cleanup patch. It’s a full-on glow-up. The 1.0 launch brings:

  • A full story campaign centered around saving Aimon’s business... or maybe his soul?
  • 33 NPCs with quests and custom trinkets
  • District Travel, which unlocks two brand-new city areas
  • A brand new Trinketpedia to track every grimy collectible
  • Over 100 new trinkets, bringing the total up to 180
  • Achievements, a Grand Opening Cosmetic Set, and summon/dismiss NPCs
  • Balancing, polish, and bug fixes
  • Optional Founder’s Pack DLC and the official soundtrack

“It’s been a dream working with our lovely community to add new content to Trash Goblin over the past six months... we get to enjoy seeing their reactions to the finale of the bedpan saga!” – Andrew Smith, Creative Director at Spilt Milk Studios

And no, this isn’t the end. Post-launch updates are already planned – more quests, more gameplay mechanics, and finishing up those sweet Kickstarter rewards. The devs are in it for the long haul.

Trash Goblin: A Beginner’s Guide

Let’s be real: goblin life is a loop. You chisel, clean, upcycle, sell, sleep, and repeat. It’s all very satisfying once you find your rhythm, but you can get swamped with junk real fast if you’re not prepared.

Here are some top beginner tips from the community and devs:

1. Storage Is Everything

You’re going to collect a lot of trinkets that don’t immediately have a use. Resist the urge to toss them — future quests might ask for those exact items. Instead, invest in shelves early.

“The Basic Table also serves as storage for trinkets, and it's an upgrade to the shelves. In return for costing 500 Gold, it has enough space to hold six to twelve trinkets, depending on how big they are.”

By day nine, you'll unlock the ability to upgrade and decorate your shop. The Basic Shelf costs 300 Gold and gives you two slots. It's not glamorous, but it's better than wasting precious time.

2. Use Hover Cleaning for Small Junk

Some trinkets are tiny. They blend into their dirt and grime and resist cleaning. Don’t let them waste your time.

“When using the Sponge, the small white reticule is the center of the cleaning radius and hitbox, not the entire sponge itself.”

Swap to Hover cleaning to automatically reveal those tiny crumb pieces. It’s especially useful for rusted items where the dirt looks exactly like the base metal. Hover mode might not be perfect, but it shows you where to scrub and keeps your goblin fingers from cramping.

3. Start from the Center When Chiseling

You’ll face all kinds of cruft blocks: soft ones, hard ones, obsidian-like ones that require hitting just the right spot.

“If there's any breakable cruft near the actual trinket, you should hit it first before any other pieces.”

The trick? Work from the inside out. Hitting that central weak spot often triggers chain reactions, clearing multiple blocks at once. It’s like goblin Jenga – with more grime.

4. Don’t Blow Your Gold on Early Upgrades

By the time you reach day nine, you’ll get access to tool upgrades. It’s tempting to max out everything, but patience pays off.

“These begin to pop up around days 30 to 35, so you've got plenty of time between when the upgrades begin appearing and when you'll need them.”

Instead of dropping 5,000 Gold on a Medium Workbench, pick up shelves or wait for Aimon’s free upgrade. That cash will come in handy later when customer requests get spicier.

5. Upcycle to Save Stash Space

You don’t always need more shelves — sometimes you just need to be smarter about how you use your space. Combine compatible trinkets whenever possible.

“Even if you don't need them attached at the time, it'll turn two slots of taken-up Stash space into one... You can upcycle attached trinkets back into separate pieces with no penalty.”

It’s reversible and efficient. Plus, if you already know a named NPC wants a specific combo, you can prep ahead and rake in the cash when they drop by.

The Vibe: Cozy, Eccentric, Addictive

Trash Goblin is one of those games that sneaks up on you. At first, it seems like a simple loop — clean item, sell item — but once you unlock more tools and districts, you start obsessing over every quest and every upcycle combo.

There’s a weird charm to the whole thing. It scratches the same itch as PowerWash Simulator or Potion Craft, but with more personality and way more fungal-based currency. Plus, the characters are charmingly odd without trying too hard.

Spilt Milk Studios also deserves a nod for how they’re handling the community. The fact that they’re already planning more content and fulfilling Kickstarter promises post-1.0 shows real love for this bizarre little world they’ve made.
