In a new blog post, Xbox shared insights from Ed Annunziata, the original creator of the Ecco series. In a brief but fascinating interview, Annunziata reflected on the creation of the classic titles, his creative influences, and the lasting legacy Ecco the Dolphin had on the gaming landscape of its time.

Perhaps most exciting of all, the blog revealed that remasters of both Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: The Tides of Time are currently in development. Even more thrilling for long-time fans: a brand-new sequel is on the way, developed by members of the original team and designed as a fully modern continuation of the franchise.

While the news has sparked excitement, fans will need to be patient. The official reveal is scheduled for April 25, 2026, and a countdown is already ticking on the franchise’s newly launched website: eccothedolphin.com.
