But wait, HUNGER actually looks a little different.

GOOD FUN CORPORATION (yeah, that’s the real dev name) just dropped the first gameplay trailer for their upcoming game HUNGER, and it’s definitely trying to break away from the Tarkov-clone mold that’s been popping up everywhere lately.

The game is coming to PC via Early Access later this year, and from the looks of it, it's shaping up to be a pretty wild ride. You can add HUNGER to the wishlist on the Steam page. There are no system requirements yet, but we will publish them soon.

A Dark, Gritty World That Feels Personal

HUNGER's visual setting is basically what would happen if The Last of Us had a baby with Escape from Tarkov — but uglier, grittier, and way more desperate. Think decaying urban wastelands, brutalist architecture crumbling into nature, and player hubs that look more like refugee camps than safe zones.

It’s a vibe. And it fits perfectly with the extraction shooter genre, where every decision you make could mean life, death, or losing all your hard-earned loot.

Gameplay-wise, it’s pure PvPvE goodness:

  • Go into hostile areas.
  • Grab valuable stuff.
  • Fight (or dodge) other players and AI enemies.
  • Extract alive... or cry and lose it all.

"Players will progress from level 1 to 100 by completing quests, surviving Expeditions, and mastering a robust skill system that evolves with their choices."

So yeah, standard grind... but GOOD FUN CORPORATION is spicing things up with some cool mechanics that we don’t usually see in this genre.

  • No Wipe Mechanics. Probably the biggest deal here. You keep your progress, even after a bad run. Honestly, that alone makes HUNGER stand out in a sea of shooters where you lose everything every season.
  • Crafting and Professions. Players can choose to specialize in crafting or gathering, turning junk into valuable resources or building gear for themselves and others. There’s even a player-driven marketplace. Real MMO vibes here, but in a brutal extraction shooter wrapper.
  • Expanding Endgame. Over time, players unlock new experiences like dungeons, boss fights, and more hardcore PvP content beyond the standard "grab and run" missions.

"Crafting will also add a layer of economic and strategic depth, rewarding specialization and community interdependence."

Sounds ambitious. Could be great... or could be a total mess, depending on how much they can deliver.

Will We Play It?

HUNGER has a long road ahead.

Early Access is always a gamble, and building a healthy player-driven economy is super hard even for giant studios.

But... a no-wipe extraction shooter with a heavy focus on skill progression, crafting, and late-game content? That’s a pretty exciting recipe.

If GOOD FUN CORPORATION can stick the landing, HUNGER could be the next big thing instead of just another forgotten Early Access title.

Time to gear up, grab some loot, and try not to die horribly. See you out there, scavengers.
