Discussion about The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion starts around timestamp 13:46

According to numerous sources, the remake is being developed jointly by Virtuos and Bethesda Softworks. The game utilizes Unreal Engine 5 for its graphical presentation, while the original engine is responsible for physics and core gameplay systems. This hybrid approach allows the developers to retain the feel of the classic while significantly upgrading its visuals.

Rumors of an Oblivion remake first surfaced in July 2023. Since then, various insiders and journalists have repeatedly confirmed the project’s existence and shared new details. In January 2025, MP1st published in-depth information about planned gameplay changes, including a reworked blocking system, stamina mechanics, stealth features, archery, damage reactions, and an updated HUD.

While there is no official release date yet, insiders are pointing to two possible timeframes — as early as April, or sometime in Q2 2025. Many believe the game could launch in the coming weeks as a surprise drop. Bethesda has employed this tactic before — in January 2023, Microsoft released Hi-Fi Rush immediately following its Xbox Developer Direct showcase, taking fans by surprise.

It’s also worth mentioning that in addition to the official remake, 2025 will see the release of Skyblivion, an ambitious fan project recreating Oblivion using The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s engine. In development for over 13 years, Skyblivion is now in its final stages and scheduled to launch next year.

While Bethesda remains silent, the community is eagerly watching for updates, anticipating one of the most exciting revivals in RPG history.
