Top Battle Royale, FPS, and Other Games Go Clover Crazy with St. Patrick’s Day

On March 17, 2025, cities around the world will be awash with emerald green, buckled top hats, ginger beards, and distinctly dark ales. St. Patrick’s Day has evolved from being a national holiday in Ireland to a huge event that people look forward on a global level. Obviously, its persona as a day of celebrations, parties, and parades probably helps.

Given the need for them to continually update and offer new, popular reasons to stay playing, naturally, live service games are jumping in on the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations this month. Even the biggest names in gaming need to get involved. In 2025, Black Ops 6 and Warzone have embraced the Irish celebrations.

Going Clover Crazy for St. Patrick’s Day

Back in January 2025, Call of Duty laid out the roadmap for Season 2 across its two current installments, with its St. Patrick’s Day celebrations smuggled way down the list of announcements. Listed as an event with a vague activation date of “March” and unknown rewards, players were informed that the three-mode-spanning Clover Craze will have players looking to collect clovers to redeem rewards.

It didn’t all go so smoothly for Activision en route to the Irish theme release, though. At the end of February, a few weeks before the event was set to launch, the battle royale reportedly added the St. Patrick’s Day items by mistake. The seemingly accidental addition featured a floating leprechaun just in the middle of a map. That didn’t turn out to be the launch of the event.

Instead, players have reveled in the release of a TMNT event from February 27 onwards. Seemingly an odd matchup, it proved to be very popular and had players hooked through to March 13. At the conclusion of TMNT, the hit FPS games will immediately pivot into St. Patrick’s Day with Clover Craze across its main game modes.

More Irish Action Found in Gaming

At this time of the year, you’ll often find live service games give a nod to St. Patrick’s Day, from new weapon skins to themed events like those in the hit first-person shooter from Activision.

Elsewhere, the games that are all-out Irish see a hefty uptick in play as people seek to revel in the green and gold of the celebrations, such as the classic Rainbow Riches online slot game. Featuring a now-iconic little leprechaun and three bonus features that are as decked in Irish iconography as they come, Rainbow Riches remains a big favorite every March and beyond.
