Epic Games Store Reaches 295 Million PC Players
Epic Games Store has achieved a milestone of 295 million PC players over the past year, marking an increase of 25 million from 2023. The platform's total user base now stands at 898 million, with a cumulative playtime of 2.68 billion hours.
In its latest Year in Review, Epic attributes this growth to the addition of 1,100 new games, facilitated by Self-Publishing Tools and developer programs that allow creators to retain 100% of their revenue. The Free Games Program, now in its fifth year, has enriched player libraries with over $2,000 worth of PC titles across 89 giveaways and is set to continue on both PC and mobile platforms in 2025.

Daily Active Users (DAU) have reached a new peak of 37.2 million, while peak Monthly Active Users (MAU) experienced a slight decrease from 75 million to 74 million. Despite this, the average DAU increased by 6% to 31.5 million, and the average MAU saw a similar 6% rise to 67.2 million.

The top games on the platform, based on player spending and engagement, include Genshin Impact, Rocket League, Honkai: Star Rail, Grand Theft Auto V, and Fortnite. Notably, none of these titles were released in 2024, highlighting the enduring popularity of established games.

Epic Games emphasizes its commitment to developers by maintaining flexible revenue-sharing models and supporting third-party payment solutions. The Now on Epic program has been extended for another year, running until January 31, 2026, and now includes mobile games.

In a significant development, Epic Games has announced plans to expand its mobile marketplace by adding 19 third-party games to its Android app worldwide and 16 games to its iOS app within the European Union. This initiative aims to provide alternatives to traditional app stores and is part of Epic's broader strategy to create a unified cross-platform store.
Additionally, Epic Games has partnered with major carrier Telefónica to have the Epic Games Store preinstalled on new Android devices sold in regions including the UK, Spain, Germany, and Latin America. This move is expected to significantly increase the store's reach and challenge existing app store dominance.

These developments underscore Epic Games' ongoing efforts to expand its ecosystem and provide both players and developers with a diverse and accessible gaming platform.
