Saros on State of Play 2025: Trailer of a New Sci-Fi Action Game Coming in 2026
Housemarque, the studio behind the critically acclaimed rogue-lite shooter Returnal, has officially announced its next project, Saros. Revealed during PlayStation's State of Play 2025, Saros is set to launch in 2026 exclusively for PlayStation 5, with enhancements for the PS5 Pro.
Starring Rahul Kohli in the lead role, Saros follows Arjun Devraj, a Solatri enforcer navigating a perilous, ever-changing planet dominated by a mysterious eclipse and an imposing, powerful entity. The game's themes and mechanics echo Returnal, with elements of roguelike progression and bullet-hell combat, but Housemarque is taking things even further with its latest effort.
According to creative director Gregory Louden, Saros represents the "ultimate evolution" of Housemarque's gameplay-driven design philosophy. While it introduces a brand-new single-player IP, Saros builds upon Returnal’s third-person action with refined mechanics and deeper progression systems. Unlike its predecessor, which focused on resetting progression upon death, Saros will allow players to retain permanent resources, upgrade weapons, and enhance their suits even as the world reshapes itself after each cycle.
Housemarque has promised a more in-depth look at Saros later this year, with an extended gameplay reveal on the horizon. With its dynamic world, intense action, and refined roguelike mechanics, Saros is shaping up to be another high-intensity adventure from one of PlayStation’s most innovative studios.
