Monster Hunter Wilds Second Beta Test Has Started
The second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta test is officially live, giving players another chance to experience the game before its full release later this month. This beta introduces new challenges, including a showdown with the flagship monster, Arkveld, also known as the White Wraith.
Capcom recently unveiled fresh details in its Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, highlighting the newly introduced Iceshard Cliffs biome. This frozen landscape joins previously revealed environments such as the Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, and Oilwell Basin. Additionally, players will encounter the ice-dwelling leviathan Hirabami, as well as returning monsters Nerscylla and Gore Magala from previous Monster Hunter entries.
Customization and New Features
Wilds brings expanded customization options, including pop-up camp modifications that allow players to personalize layouts, furniture, tent colors, and background music. Hunters can also customize their Seikret’s colors and decorations as the story unfolds.
Fashion-focused players will be pleased to learn that layered armor is now automatically registered when crafting its High-Rank counterpart. Meanwhile, Hunter Profiles replace traditional Guild Cards, offering enhanced features for showcasing achievements. A new photo mode with adjustable camera angles and depth-of-field settings is also included, allowing players to capture their most epic moments.
Beta Test Details and Playable Content
The second open beta test runs from February 13-16, maintaining the same 7 PM PT/ 3 AM UK time schedule as the first test. Players can engage in private lobbies, test their skills in the new base camp training area, and take on Arkveld in a "special advanced quest" that Capcom warns is particularly dangerous.
Other beta content includes a hunt against Gypceros, alongside returning features such as character creation, a story trial, and the Doshaguma hunt seen in the previous beta. Cross-platform multiplayer is enabled, and while character progress won't carry over, players will retain their created characters for the full game.
As a bonus, participants will receive an exclusive pendant and item pass, redeemable in the full release. Additionally, Monster Hunter World and Iceborne players who purchase Wilds will unlock Palico equipment and a Hunter Profile nameplate.
Huge Player Turnout on Steam + Additional Beta for PS5 Players After PSN Outage
Interest in Monster Hunter Wilds remains high, with the second beta already attracting over 225,000 concurrent players on Steam within its first 24 hours, as noted by @Okami13_ on X (formerly Twitter). This impressive turnout reflects the excitement surrounding the game's release.
Following last weekend's PSN outage, Capcom has assured PlayStation 5 players that it will hold an additional open beta session at a later date to make up for lost time. While no specific details have been provided yet, Capcom has confirmed that the extra 24-hour test will be announced soon.
Full Release Date
Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Post-launch, Capcom will introduce limited-time event quests one week after release, offering exclusive rewards and special appearances.
