Minecraft Modder Creates "Enderchester," a Custom Mob for Miners
A talented Minecraft modder has introduced a new custom mob called the "Enderchester," designed to assist players by automatically collecting mined materials. This innovative addition is particularly useful for players who enjoy mining for extended periods. Minecraft’s modding community has long been known for enhancing the game’s features, and this new mob is another example of their creativity.
Expanding Minecraft Through Mods
From the game’s earliest days, mods have allowed players to customize their Minecraft experience. Over the years, modders have created tools like World Edit for efficient building, Lithium for performance optimization, and even crossover mods like Pixelmon, which brings Pokémon into the Minecraft universe. These mods range from small tweaks to game-changing additions, ensuring even the most experienced players can keep their gameplay fresh.
Now, Reddit user Infinite_Swimming861 has added a unique custom mob to the mix, making mining more convenient for players.
Meet the Enderchester
Infinite_Swimming861 shared a video showcasing the Enderchester on Reddit. The clip begins with the player placing the mob on the surface of the Overworld. Visually, the Enderchester resembles a mimic from Dungeons & Dragons, though it also incorporates design elements inspired by Minecraft's Ancient Cities.
Here’s how the Enderchester works:
- Taming the Mob: The player tames the Enderchester by feeding it an Ender Pearl, which can be obtained from Endermen (with a 50% drop rate per Enderman).
- Chest Functionality: Once tamed, the Enderchester reveals an empty inventory inside its mouth, resembling a portable chest.
- Collecting Materials: As the player mines nearby blocks, the Enderchester automatically collects the materials, sparing players the hassle of picking them up manually. Notably, XP Orbs are still directed to the player, ensuring they don’t lose experience points.
The video also demonstrates that the Enderchester can be instructed to stay in one spot. To do this, players simply crouch and interact with the mob.
Future Plans and Player Reactions
According to the modder, the Enderchester will be added to the Easycraft Modpack in the next few updates. While the mod is currently shown in a controlled Overworld environment, questions remain about how the mob will perform in complex cave systems or areas with challenging terrain.
The community’s response has been overwhelmingly positive. Many praised the Enderchester for its charming design, while others were excited about its practical utility for mining. Some users even speculated about the lore potential, given its resemblance to creatures from the Deep Dark and Ancient Cities.
Could Enderchester Join the Official Game?
As Mojang continues to add new mobs to Minecraft, there’s always the possibility that a concept like the Enderchester could be integrated into the base game. With its helpful functionality and thematic design, the Enderchester feels like a natural fit for Minecraft’s evolving world.
For now, players can look forward to trying out this creative mod in future versions of the Easycraft Modpack, making their mining adventures both easier and more enjoyable.
