Genshin Impact has released a captivating story teaser for Citlali, delving into her personal challenges with immortality. While the Natlan era is only halfway through, certain characters have already cemented their status as fan favorites. Mavuika's popularity was anticipated, but Citlali's rise to stardom came as a delightful surprise. First introduced during the Natlan Ignition teaser, Citlali truly captured players' hearts in Version 5.1 during the Archon Quest.

Part of Citlali’s charm lies in her bold and unapologetically vibrant personality. She is both a legendary shaman of Mictlan and an avid reader of Inazuman light novels. Though not the most polite resident of Natlan—and often treading the line between humorous and abrasive in her interactions with Ororon—Citlali’s big heart and genuine care for those around her shine through. These qualities, combined with her strong will and lively nature, have endeared her to the Genshin Impact community. Players will soon have the chance to add her to their roster when she becomes playable on January 1, 2025, with the release of Version 5.3.

To give players a deeper understanding of her character, Genshin Impact has unveiled a story teaser centered on Citlali. It highlights her love for snacks, alcohol, and light novels, presenting a glimpse of her daily life. However, the teaser’s central theme is the bittersweet reality of immortality and the passage of time. As an accomplished shaman, Citlali’s lifespan far exceeds that of ordinary people in Natlan. While this grants her wisdom and experience, it also brings the heartbreak of outliving those she holds dear. Similar to characters like Furina and Capitano, who also grapple with immortality, Citlali’s journey is uniquely explored through her deep connections with others.

The teaser illustrates how, despite her feisty exterior, Citlali forms a meaningful bond with a girl from the Masters of the Night-Wind. Over the years, she keeps the girl’s graffiti intact on her house walls, even as it begins to fade with time. Eventually, the girl, now an elderly woman, bids Citlali a final farewell before passing away from natural causes. In keeping with Natlan’s overarching theme of resurrection, Citlali symbolically “revives” her friend by restoring the graffiti and preserving her memory.

This emotional depth sets the stage for what players can expect from Citlali’s Tribal Chronicle, which is likely to further explore themes of immortality, memory, and loss. On the gameplay side, Citlali is expected to shine as a powerful support character for Pyro-focused teams. Her abilities include a significant boost to Melt damage, reduced Pyro resistance for enemies, and a Cryo shield. She will debut alongside Mavuika in the Event Banners for Version 5.3 and will remain available for pulls until January 21, 2025.
