Skyrim Fan Crafts Stunning Real-Life Ebony War Axe Replica
A dedicated Skyrim fan recently brought the Ebony War Axe from the game to life, crafting an impressive, real-world version of the iconic weapon. While this fan-made axe closely resembles the in-game model with detailed designs, it also includes a few adjustments for functionality and safety, making it practical to handle.
Since Skyrim’s release in 2011, the game has built a large, creative fanbase. Over a decade later, players are still deeply engaged with the game, not only by playing but by creating stunning fan art and unique recreations. From intricate maps of Skyrim’s landscapes to high-quality cosplays, fans continuously find new ways to express their admiration for the game. Some even go as far as recreating in-game items, like the Ebony War Axe crafted by Reddit user TheRaimundCosplay.
TheRaimundCosplay shared their work on Reddit, showcasing a remarkably accurate version of Skyrim’s Ebony War Axe. Using 1045 and mild steel, they applied a range of forging techniques, primarily welding, to capture the intricate swirls on the axe head. They wrapped the handle in real leather, adding to its authenticity and giving the axe an even closer resemblance to the in-game original.
The recreated Ebony War Axe is not only visually true to the original but is also fully functional. The axe weighs around five to six pounds and can be wielded with one hand, making it a formidable piece. For practical use, however, the creator made some safety adjustments, such as shortening the back spike, which would hit the shoulder during test swings if left unchanged.
The post garnered significant admiration from the Skyrim community, with fans praising the craftsmanship and effort that went into this project. Taking around 50 hours to complete, the Ebony War Axe replica stands as a testament to the skill, dedication, and passion that fans pour into their Skyrim-inspired creations.
