Helldivers 2 Patch 1.001.103: Major Crash Fixes and Gameplay Improvements Revealed
Arrowhead Game Studios has released patch 1.001.103 for Helldivers 2, addressing two major crashes and providing additional fixes to stabilize the game. After a strong start earlier this year, Helldivers 2 faced ups and downs with its community, but it now seems to be in a much better place. Thanks to recent updates, many issues that had previously plagued the game have been resolved.
While Helldivers 2 became an instant hit upon its release in February, ongoing balancing issues and controversies began to frustrate the player base. The situation escalated in August following the release of the Escalation of Freedom update, sparking a review bombing campaign from unhappy players. However, Arrowhead Game Studios listened to feedback and rolled out a massive update in September that addressed many community concerns, significantly improving the overall experience.
To maintain the momentum, Arrowhead continues to release updates to iron out any remaining issues. Patch 1.001.103 focuses on fixing crash triggers and other bugs. Notably, two major crashes have been resolved—one related to "unique stim pistol owners" leaving the game and another tied to players equipping hellpod skins on new accounts.
In addition to crash fixes, the patch addresses various bugs, including a glitch where players wearing heavy armor were immune to gas effects. Audio improvements have also been made for the Terminid and Automaton enemies, ensuring their voice lines are more audible and easier to track during gameplay. The patch also lists several known issues, such as title screen crashes, enemies shooting through walls, and missions not spawning enough enemies, which remain priorities for future fixes.
Despite the numerous improvements, the patch doesn’t mention the long-rumored third faction. For months, there has been speculation and datamined information hinting at the introduction of the Illuminate faction, but Arrowhead has remained tight-lipped on this, despite some teasers, including a brief appearance of the faction on the game’s galaxy map.
