Starfield: Shattered Space Expansion Adds 50+ Locations and New Enemies – All You Need to Know
Starfield: Shattered Space will introduce over 50 new locations, Bethesda recently revealed. This exciting detail was part of a broader preview of the upcoming Starfield expansion, hinting at the scale of this massive content drop.
Bethesda has confirmed that Starfield: Shattered Space will launch on September 30, following the announcement during Gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2024. Since then, the studio has been steadily teasing fans with new details about the expansion through social media updates.
Shattered Space Promises to Be Massive
On September 6, Bethesda took to Twitter to share a brief overview of what players can expect from the first Starfield expansion. They revealed that Shattered Space will feature over 50 new locations, along with two new enemy types: Redeemed and Vortex Horrors. Additionally, Bethesda mentioned the introduction of craftable grenades made from "gross" organic materials, though details on that feature remain scarce.
The expansion will also build on existing Starfieldfactions like the Crimson Fleet, Spacers, and Va'ruun Zealots. According to the same source, players will encounter new content related to these factions during planetary exploration. While Bethesda hasn’t confirmed if these additions will be part of randomly generated points of interest, the wording suggests that possibility.
A significant portion of the DLC is expected to focus on the Zealots, as Bethesda has repeatedly emphasized that Shattered Space will expand on House Va'ruun. Although specifics are unclear, earlier footage teased by the studio hints that players may get the chance to visit House Va'ruun’s homeworld as part of the expansion’s storyline.
Pre-Orders and Future Expansions
Shattered Space is available for pre-order at $29.99, while players who purchased the Digital Premium Edition of Starfield will receive the expansion at no extra cost. Despite the expansion's teased scale, Bethesda has yet to disclose how long it will take players to complete the new content. However, the studio has made it clear that Shattered Space won’t be the only expansion for Starfield. Bethesda has previously stated its intention to support the game far longer than its previous single-player RPGs, so fans can expect more content to come.
