IShowSpeed Faces Temporary YouTube Ban After Dangerous Sports Car Stunt
YouTube celebrity IShowSpeed has been banned from the platform following a recent video featuring a dangerous sports car stunt, which allegedly violated the site's Community Guidelines. Known for his chaotic and unpredictable content, the streamer remains highly popular across social media, boasting millions of followers. IShowSpeed has addressed the ban, given that YouTube is his primary streaming platform.
Darren Jason Watkins Jr., better known as IShowSpeed or simply Speed, runs one of YouTube's largest channels, with over 27 million subscribers. He is famous for his gaming and IRL streams, which often spiral into chaotic and risky situations. Last month, while streaming in Europe, IShowSpeed was mobbed by fans and had to spend $50,000 on car repairs. Despite the controversy surrounding his content, the streamer consistently uploaded videos to YouTube. However, he has now been forced to pause his streaming schedule due to a ban.
On August 5, IShowSpeed's editor posted a screenshot of the channel's dashboard on Twitter, showing that YouTube issued a strike for violating Active Community Guidelines. The video in question featured IShowSpeed jumping over two sports cars, a Lamborghini and a McLaren, speeding towards him during a livestream.
Although this wasn't his first time attempting such a stunt, the video has been removed, and the creator reportedly faces a two-week ban, according to a verified fan account on Twitter.
IShowSpeed is no stranger to being banned from major platforms. Earlier this year, he was banned by PlayStation and had a two-year ban from Twitch.
Following the ban, IShowSpeed uploaded a video addressing the situation. "Hey guys, if you’re watching this right now, I’m banned on YouTube on my main channel,” he stated. “I cannot stream or do anything, guys. I just wanted to let y’all know. I love y’all.”
While users can still access Speed's main channel, there will be no new content for now. The creator has reportedly appealed the ban, but there have been no further updates. Last year, Twitch lifted IShowSpeed's permanent ban, leading some fans to speculate that he might return to the platform during this YouTube break. However, given Speed's contentment with YouTube, this seems unlikely.
In 2022, IShowSpeed became YouTube's most-watched streamer, and his popularity has only continued to grow. He now focuses on sharing his travels and adventures through IRL streams, expressing plans to visit Southeast Asia and the Middle East in the coming months. If the YouTube ban is lifted as anticipated, fans can look forward to more content from the 19-year-old streamer.
