The Rise and Fall of the Hype House Bus: Abandoned and Damaged in Los Angeles
The Hype House bus, once used by popular TikTok stars like Addison Rae, has resurfaced online after being found abandoned and wrecked on the side of the road. Previously a tool for content creation by its TikTok celebrity owners, the bus now presents a far less glamorous appearance.
In 2019, a group of social media stars, including Addison Rae and Charli D'Amelio, formed a TikTok collective known as "The Hype House." By 2020, the group gained significant attention, even landing a TV show documenting their lives as content creators living together in a shared mansion. Later that year, the group received a customized school bus, aptly named "The Hype House Bus," which allowed them to film videos on the go. Over time, however, the group faced numerous controversies and changes in membership, leading to a decline in their popularity. Recently, the Hype House Bus has garnered attention once more due to a video showing its current state.
On August 1, The Hollywood Fix spotted the Hype House Bus abandoned on the side of the road in Los Angeles, California. The vehicle appears neglected, with faded paint from sun exposure and several windows seemingly vandalized. Despite the wear, the bus still features images of some original Hype House members, although much of the artwork has faded. Since its debut, both the bus and the Hype House have lost their appeal, with stars like Charli D'Amelio no longer dominating TikTok as they once did.
Hype House Bus Found Abandoned and Damaged
The Hype House Bus was originally a customized gift from popular YouTuber ZHC to his TikToker friends. He and his team hand-painted the exterior and revamped the interior with new seats, a ring light, a TV, and a gaming console. Now, the vehicle sits empty and neglected. In 2023, the original Hype House mansion was also put up for sale. Despite the decline in popularity, many of these TikTok stars continue to earn well from the platform, even as TikTok faces its own challenges.
Recently, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) sued TikTok, alleging that the app collects data on millions of children. TikTok had previously sued the U.S. Government over its attempts to ban the platform within the country, arguing that such a ban would contradict American free speech values. However, TikTok's struggles with user privacy and protecting minors have only led to more legal issues.
