New Trailer Reveals Takeda Takahashi as the Final DLC Character for Mortal Kombat 1
WB Games and NetherRealm Studios have unveiled a new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, showcasing the last initial DLC character, Takeda Takahashi. This time, Takeda appears as a ninja reminiscent of Solid Snake. Originally introduced in Mortal Kombat X, Takeda's backstory has shifted in this new reality. He is no longer the son of Kenshi but his cousin, transitioning from a former Yakuza member to a part of the Shirai Ryu clan (Scorpion's former clan now mentioned in this timeline).
Takeda will be available on July 23 for Early Access owners, along with fellow MKX fighter Ferra as a Kameo fighter, and for everyone else on July 30. For those eager to get hands-on experience, Takeda will be playable at Evo 2024 in Las Vegas from July 19-21.
Takeda Takahashi – Mortal Kombat 1
Raised as a Yakuza, Takeda Takahashi enjoyed the lifestyle, which led to his selection to stop his cousin Kenshi's crusade against their masters. Takeda was mortally wounded in the battle, but Kenshi saved him by bringing him to the Shirai Ryu. Despite being healed, Kenshi kept him there, fearing the Yakuza would kill him for failing his mission. Takeda resisted initially but gradually grew to appreciate the Shirai Ryu's dedication to Earthrealm.
Vowing to eradicate Earthrealm's underworld, Takeda soon realizes the challenge is greater than he anticipated. In the new video, Takeda's Shirai Ryu-inspired moveset is showcased, featuring his serrated whips for pulling and throwing opponents, explosive kunai projectiles for combo extensions, and teleportation skills for surprise attacks.
