Granblue Fantasy: Relink Update 1.3.0 Arriving May 31 with New Character and Features

The highly anticipated 1.3.0 update for Granblue Fantasy: Relink is set to be released on May 31. This update will introduce a new character and a much-requested feature for fans.

Released in February, Granblue Fantasy: Relink is an action RPG developed and published by Japanese media giant Cygames. Since its launch, the game has received two major updates, adding new characters, quests, and paid content. The upcoming 1.3.0 version promises even more exciting content and has now been given an official release date.

The game's official Twitter account recently announced that the 1.3.0 update will include the archangel Sandalphon as a playable character. Additionally, the update will introduce a photo mode, a feature many players have been eager to see, along with new paid content and other enhancements. Sandalphon, who can be unlocked through specific in-game achievements or purchased, is a familiar character from the original Granblue Fantasy game released in 2014. Although he did not appear in the franchise's fighting games, Granblue Fantasy Versus and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, developed by Arc System Works, nor in the animated adaptation, his addition to Granblue Fantasy: Relink is highly anticipated.

Previous and New Additions

Sandalphon joins other characters like Seofon and Tweyen, who were introduced in the 1.2.0 update. These characters, part of the Eternals—a group of the strongest warriors in their respective classes—can be obtained using Special Crewmate Cards available from a merchant named Siero.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink has sold over one million copies within the first few weeks of its release and boasts a Very Positive overall rating on Steam, based on nearly 30,000 reviews. However, the game's development journey was not smooth. Initially scheduled for release in 2018, the project saw PlatinumGames, who was working alongside Cygames, eventually departing from the development process.
