The GTA 5 database leak mentions Bully 2 and an alleged canceled story add-on
The GTA 5 Data Leak Reveals Insights into Unfinished Projects and Potential Canceled Game Additions
The file containing debugging and project state information, intended for debugger use, has become a source for fans attempting to uncover traces of code linked to abandoned concepts. The exact age of this database remains unknown.
Twitter user @billsyliamgta reported that the file includes a text string mentioning Bully 2, alongside titles like Grand Theft Auto 4, Midnight Club Los Angeles, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
@billsyliamgta also highlighted a reference to Trevor with a jetpack in the file, suggesting to him that a scrapped story addition might have been reworked into GTA Online missions (specifically, the Doomsday Heist).
Another Twitter user, @GlowDevs, observed numerous references to 'CNC' in the database, potentially linked to a planned mode called Cops 'n' Crooks.
Although the mode was never officially confirmed, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported that it was intended to divide players into police officers and criminals. However, it was "quietly shelved" after the events following George Floyd's murder by a police officer in 2020.
Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser and some key developers had drafted a script for Bully 2 as early as 2008, outlining several initial scenes and the overall story, according to sources familiar with the development process.
Despite this, an official announcement regarding the continuation of Bully has yet to materialize.
