The announcement of TopSpin 2K25 indirectly confirms long-standing rumors about the potential release of Mafia 4
Yesterday evening, the company 2K announced the release of TopSpin 2K25 — the first new game in the tennis simulator series in the last 13 years, specifying that it is being developed by the studio Hangar 13, known for their work on the Mafia franchise.
This announcement can be seen as confirmation of earlier rumors about Mafia 4, claim sources.
The connection of Hangar 13 studio with the revival of TopSpin became known to Kotaku journalists in the spring of 2022, when information about the continuation of Mafia also surfaced. Thus, the confirmation of the first rumor lends weight to the second one related to Mafia 4.
Insiders reveal that Mafia 4, codenamed Nero, will serve as a prequel to the original trilogy, developed on the Unreal Engine 5.
According to rumors, the game's storyline will unfold in Sicily between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The main focus of the plot will be on the family of Don Salieri, the protagonist Tommy from the first part, and the prequel's gameplay will still adhere to a linear development of the story.
In August 2022, 2K officially confirmed the development of the fourth installment of "Mafia" but refrained from disclosing details.
