Starfield's Potato Pandemonium: Bethesda's Gravity-Defying Veggie Extravaganza

Even before most players have had a chance to dive into Starfield, the classic Bethesda physics hijinks are already making waves. Just last week, we caught a glimpse of the futuristic version of "Hoarders" in space, and now it's all about the spuds.

One enterprising player, who goes by the name Moozipan, has taken potato-hoarding to a whole new level, transforming a room in their spaceship into a veritable sea of space taters. What's truly astonishing here isn't the fact that a Bethesda game allows you to push your computer's limits with an abundance of spawned items – that's almost expected. What's genuinely surprising is that when the hatch opens, these potatoes spill out in a remarkably realistic fashion, tumbling and bouncing off each other, as if it were an actual room overflowing with potatoes. Well, at least that's how I imagine it.

In Bethesda's other sandbox RPGs, similar antics involving massive item spawns aren't as easy on the eyes as this graceful display of potato abundance. You might anticipate a significant drop in frame rate or even a dreaded crash to desktop when dealing with such a potato deluge. However, Starfield handles the potato extravaganza with remarkable poise.

Taking it a step further, Moozipan decided to blow up the potatoes in the name of science. The conclusion of that explosive experiment may either be the crash we all anticipated or simply a perfectly timed, scream-worthy clip. Moozipan leaves us guessing. Regardless, this peculiar potato spectacle now stands as one of the quirky improvements on my personal Bethesda game wish list, right alongside operable ladders in Starfield.

Now, the big question is whether someone will attempt to fill an entire city with produce in the near future. If you're inclined to try your hand at this potato prank, I'd advise against manually collecting them all. As Moozipan likely did to achieve this feat, you can employ Starfield's console commands to spawn a large quantity of any specific object at your current location, and voila – you'll have yourself a roomful of potatoes.
