In Tekken 8, Feng Wei has been announced, a new closed beta test has been revealed, and Tekken Ball is making a return
Bandai Namco has announced a new addition to the Tekken 8 roster - Feng Wei.
This experienced martial artist joins other legendary Tekken characters such as Raven, Nina Williams, and Jin Kazama in the lineup for the game, set to release in January next year.
Feng Wei is a powerful and imposing fighter. While not too complex to control, his attacks are undeniably devastating.
In addition to Feng Wei, Tekken 8 is also gearing up for a new closed beta test.
This test will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, starting on October 20th. Registration is already open for those interested in trying out Tekken 8.
Since the last closed network test of the game, several changes have been made, including significant alterations to various systems and controls. So, if you participated in the previous test, you'll notice some small yet meaningful differences this time around.
The beta will include all sixteen characters from the previous test, as well as three new ones: Raven, Azucena, and Feng Wei.
A new stage will also be available in the beta - Azucena's Ortiz Quorum stage, located in Peru.
During the Tokyo Game Show, Bandai Namco introduced a new mode called the Tekken 8 Fight Lounge, which functions similarly to Street Fighter 6's Battle Hub.
In this mode, you can view other players' profiles, communicate with them, and quickly join matches. You have various methods of interacting with players, including chat, emotes, and stamps.
However, perhaps the most exciting news is the inclusion of a beach area in this hub, where you can play the volleyball mini-game Tekken Ball. It makes its return in Tekken 8 after a long absence since the Wii U version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
In this mode, all Tekken 8 characters will be available with their full move sets, allowing you to choose any fighter you like.
Tekken 8 is set to release on January 26th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
In our Tekken 8 preview, our own Robert Scarpinito called the game "another exciting, adrenaline-fueled entry in the series," so if you're already a Tekken fan, it seems you're in for a treat.
