A datamine of the game Alan Wake 2 has uncovered a potential alternative story ending and additional DLC content
Information leaks have emerged online regarding upcoming updates for Alan Wake 2. Unfortunately, the videos containing this information are not available for viewing, but they contain textual information that hints at their purpose in the upcoming New Game Plus mode, which is set to be added to the game soon.
What's intriguing is that the content of these videos remains confidential because it includes plot spoilers that could significantly alter the course of the story in Alan Wake 2. This suggests the possibility of an entirely new ending in the forthcoming New Game Plus mode.
Additionally, other videos indicate potential future downloadable content (DLC) for the game, which may further intertwine the game's world with the Remedy universe. These videos feature scenes with Dr. Darling, a side character from Remedy's 2019 game, Control.
Recently, it was revealed that the first game expansion titled "Night Springs" is scheduled for release in late spring 2024. The second expansion, "The Lakehouse," currently lacks an official release date, but based on the leaks, it may be linked to the content of this second expansion.
Remedy has also confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will receive a New Game Plus mode in a post-release update, although the exact release date for this mode has yet to be specified. This mode will enable players to retain all unlocked weapons and upgrades and will introduce a new difficulty level, "Nightmare," as well as an "alternative narrative, including new Manuscript pages and video content." It appears that part of this video content has already become accessible due to the leak.
