The Mind-Blowing Revelation of Elden Ring's Concept of Inevitable Mortality

Destined Death, one of Elden Ring's most awe-inspiring Great Runes, holds immense power that has captured the desire of numerous characters within the game's universe. In this epic saga, divine beings derive their strength from Great Runes, with some of these powers being passed down to their offspring. However, individuals outside of this divine lineage can also harness the might of Elden Ring's Great Runes through direct possession or by earning the loyalty of a Rune bearer.

At the heart of Elden Ring's lore lies the Great Rune known as Destined Death, which empowers its wielder to vanquish Gods in their entirety. With a rich history, this particular Rune stands as one of the most significant and impactful forces in the Elden Ring universe. Without the power of Destined Death, any Gods slain are believed to be resurrected by the Erdtree, perpetuating their existence.

Destined Death weaves itself intricately into the story of Elden Ring through the enigmatic figure of Melina, the maiden tied to the Tarnished player character. While initially appearing virtuous, Melina's true form emerges upon gaining control of Destined Death. Speculation among fans suggests that Melina may be none other than the Gloam-Eyed Queen, a theory reinforced by the Lord of the Frenzied Flame ending. This conclusion, however, remains uncertain, as the game abruptly ends before further revelations unfold. The expansion content of Elden Ring may provide the answers, depending on which ending is deemed canonical.

The Gloam-Eyed Queen once possessed the Rune of Destined Death, with her loyal followers, the Godskin Apostles, donning armor crafted from the skin of deceased Gods. Armed with the Rune's bestowed power, they successfully vanquished divine beings. Their unaligned allegiance and formidable strength instilled fear in the remaining Gods. Eventually, the Divine family of Elden Ring dispossessed the Gloam-Eyed Queen of the Rune, confiding it to Maliketh, the royal protector, in an attempt to safeguard its incredible potential.

Unwilling to utilize Destined Death, even to eliminate the Gloam-Eyed Queen, the Divine family sealed the Great Rune away. According to popular theories, stripped of her authority, the Gloam-Eyed Queen assumed the identity of Melina and sought an emissary to reclaim her lost power, ultimately becoming the Maiden to the player character.

During Maliketh's watch over Destined Death, one of the Divine family's offspring stole the Rune. Assisted by the enigmatic Black Knife Assassins, Ranni the Witch employed the pilfered Great Rune to slay Godwyn the Golden, an act of rebellion against her predetermined destiny as a member of the Divine family. Ranni's essence is believed to persist through puppetry, while her true form met its demise. This assassination, known as the Night of Black Knives, sparked Queen Marika's decision to shatter the Elden Ring, leading to her subsequent imprisonment within the Erdtree. With the head of the Divine family incarcerated, the Lands Between plunged into a war over the remaining Great Runes. It is in this turbulent era that the player character emerges, tasked with the monumental quest of uniting the Great Runes once more.

Upon vanquishing Maliketh, the player character assumes the mantle of the current bearer of Destined Death. As for the defeated Gods, it is believed that their powers dissipate upon the theft of their respective Great Runes. Ultimately, when the Tarnished player character ignites the Erdtree, the fallen Rune Bearers are denied the chance of resurrection, bringing a fitting conclusion to their divine legacy.

The intricacies of Elden Ring's Destined Death and its profound impact on the unfolding narrative make for an unforgettable journey. As players delve deeper into this dark and enthralling world, the true extent of the Rune's power and its role in shaping the fate of Elden Ring will undoubtedly captivate and enthrall.
