Terrifying Bug in Diablo 4 Transforms Innocent Treasure Goblins into Deadly Assassins

For most Diablo 4 players, encountering a Treasure Goblin is a joyous moment, as it typically means obtaining valuable loot. These mischievous creatures were once harmless, allowing players to dispatch them without fear of reprisal. However, a recent bug introduced in the latest Diablo 4 patch has transformed these innocent beings into merciless killing machines capable of obliterating even the mightiest of characters with a single strike.

Several players, including popular Twitch streamer Killthuzad, have fallen victim to this bug, witnessing their characters meet a sudden demise at the hands of a Treasure Goblin. Killthuzad's character met an untimely end while venturing through a tier 37 Nightmare Dungeon. Similar stories have surfaced on the Blizzard forums, with players like Faraddox, MythiZena, and Uncle Mumble sharing their frustrating experiences of losing high-level characters to the glitch.

The bug appears to be tied to the Death Pulse affix, which allows monsters to release a surge of lightning upon their defeat. Typically, this lightning pulse poses minimal threat to players. However, the glitch has amplified the power of Treasure Goblins' emitted pulses, resulting in devastating one-shot kills against unsuspecting characters.

Fortunately, Blizzard has acknowledged the issue and assured players that it is actively investigating the bug. While a specific fix date has not been provided, the company has promised to address the problem in an upcoming patch before the start of Season 1, details of which will be unveiled next week.

If losing a character to a Treasure Goblin wasn't bad enough, streamer Souaïb "carn" Hanaf experienced an even more unfortunate fate. Shortly after becoming the first player to reach level 100 on Hardcore mode, Hanaf's character fell victim to a disconnect while the game was frozen, resulting in the loss of over 82 hours of gameplay. A truly disheartening turn of events.
