Get ready for a rainy battle in our favorite extraction shooter's latest update

Hunt: Showdown's recent event, Tide of Shadows, brings an exciting addition to the game after two years: the fearsome Rotjaw, an alligator-like boss that defies aquatic reptile norms. Players must now navigate knee-deep bogs as they encounter this formidable creature lurking in the bayou. But that's not all—the update also introduces rain, which proves to be an equally menacing element.

Rain in Hunt: Showdown adds a whole new level of challenge. It begins from the start of each match and persists throughout, impacting both stealth and combat dynamics. The constant downpour affects audio cues, making footsteps louder due to the muddy terrain. While the rain initially offers a relaxing ambience, its intensity ramps up as the match progresses. Vision becomes impaired with fog and droplets obstructing sightlines, while the sound is overshadowed by the storm's deafening roar. Surprisingly, the storm provides an unexpected advantage, allowing players to engage in riskier maneuvers during intense firefights.

The rain condition joins Hunt's roster of captivating map modifiers, such as full moon nights and fiery Inferno variants. While these modifiers enhance gameplay, they are typically only available during limited-time events like Tide of Shadows. Nevertheless, the addition of rain enriches the gameplay experience and raises the question of whether these modifiers should become permanent features in the game's rotation.

Alongside the rain mechanic, the Tide of Shadows event also introduces new weapons, including the versatile Driller, a three-barrel medium ammo gun, and the lethal UpperMat, designed to challenge the dominant Uppercut pistol. Players have the opportunity to experiment with these new additions, offering fresh strategies and intense encounters.

Tide of Shadows promises to be Hunt: Showdown's most significant update of the year, not only due to the introduction of the Rotjaw boss but also because of significant changes to the premium currency, Blood Bonds. Players can delve into the full patch notes for more details on these changes and other balancing tweaks. The event will be live until August 23, so don't miss out on the thrilling experience that awaits in Hunt: Showdown.
