According to insider reports, there is new information available about Neon Prime - a team-based MOBA game featuring classes, developed by Valve and IceFrog
The insider and blogger Tyler McVicker have revealed details about Valve's unannounced game, Neon Prime. During a YouTube stream, the content creator showcased actual gameplay of the upcoming title.
McVicker described Neon Prime as a team-based third-person shooter with classes and elements from MOBA, combining aspects of Overwatch, Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, and Teardown. The blogger recognized similarities with Smite but emphasized improved design and execution. The game is set in a futuristic science-fiction world with references to the Half-Life universe. In terms of visual style, Neon Prime is more reminiscent of Team Fortress 2 than CS:GO, exuding a cheerful and unrealistic atmosphere.
According to McVicker, one of the main gameplay mechanics in Neon Prime will be the classes. Each class will be represented by a unique and well-developed character, similar to Team Fortress 2. The heroes will differ significantly from each other, and the procedural generation of a vast map will ensure additional variety.
The blogger emphasized that there is a train on the map of Neon Prime that allows for fast transportation and that the location itself is huge. The map will change from game to game regardless of user decisions. The insider highlighted that many events occur simultaneously on the map, which helps uncover the strengths of the classes.
The main objective in each Neon Prime match will be the destruction of the enemy team's main building, similar to Dota 2. The map will also feature jungle areas with neutral creatures that can be interacted with to obtain resources for various actions. These conditions will vary from game to game. Neon Prime will also include destructible environments, the ability to build bases, and elements of strategy.
The insider reported that IceFrog is involved in the development of the game. Valve is already conducting closed tests of Neon Prime, with not only studio employees but also external participants taking part. The blogger speculates that the game's announcement could take place by the end of 2023.
