PlayStation VR2 will soon be available for purchase at retail stores
Sony has announced that the PSVR2 virtual reality headset is now available for purchase from local retailers. Previously, it was only sold on the PlayStation Direct website for $549.99/ €599.99/ £529.99. Despite selling less than 300,000 units in the first six weeks on the market, Sony expressed optimism about future sales.
The company's CFO, Hiroki Totoki, stated that they hope to surpass the sales of the first-generation headset, which sold over 5 million units.
However, Bloomberg reported that Sony had halved its sales forecasts for the PSVR2 due to disappointing pre-orders. Sony denies these claims and says they did not reduce the number of units being produced. The company also mentions that the virtual reality market could become one of the largest growth markets in the media and entertainment industry in the coming years.
