Epic Games Digital Store is giving away Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms and Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap for free. Anyone can pick up games, but no later than July 21st.

About the game Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms

Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms is an incremental game based on Dungeons & Dragons. The player counters waves of enemies by tapping on them or controlling the formation of unique champions with individual abilities. Each enemy drops gold, which can be spent on unlocking new champions or upgrading existing ones to strengthen the formation. Gear can be obtained as loot and attached to specific champions to further improve their abilities. The game also revisits settings and storylines based on published adventures such as Curse of Strahd and Tomb of Annihilation.

The game is developed by Codename Entertainment, whose previous turn-based game Crusaders of the Lost Idols gained popularity and served as the basis for this game. On September 7, 2017, the game went into Early Access on Steam. In 2018, the game was released for PS4 and Xbox One on December 11 and 14, respectively. On March 25, 2020, it was fully released on Steam. On May 7, 2020, it was released for the Nintendo Switch via the online store, and appeared on the Epic Games Store on February 16, 2021.

About the game Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is an action-adventure platform game developed by Lizardcube and published by Dotemu. The game is a remake of the 1989 Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, which was originally developed by Westone Bit Entertainment and published by Sega for the Master System as part of the Wonder Boy series. The game was released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in April 2017, later released for Microsoft Windows in June 2017, macOS and Linux in July 2017, iOS and Android in May 2019 and Amazon Luna in October 2020. The game takes place after the ending of Wonder Boy in Monsterland in which Wonder Boy has been cursed by the Mech Dragon and must go on a quest to return to human form. In the game, players find items and clues needed to access various parts of the Monster Land, and they can transform into other forms and gain different abilities.

The game's gameplay is reconstructed from the Master System source code, with brand new hand-drawn graphics and musical permutations. Set immediately after the events of Wonder Boy in Monsterland, the player controls a character who, after defeating the Clockwork Dragon, is afflicted with a curse that turns him into Lizard Man. The player must travel the world and defeat all other dragons on earth in order to return to their human form. Just like in the original game, players explore different lands, fight against opponents to earn items such as arrows and fireballs, as well as money that can be used to buy new weapons and armor. As the game progresses, the player gains new animal forms, each with new abilities that allow for additional research. These include Lizard Man who can spit fire, Mouse Man who can cling to staggered blocks, Piranha Man who can swim underwater, Lion Man who can perform a vertical slash attack, and Man - A hawk that can fly through the air. The game retains the gameplay and level design of the original game, albeit with some improvements such as instantly switching weapons and removing the need to purchase amulets to purchase new equipment. The game also supports passwords from the original game. New features added to the remake include additional difficulty settings, as well as the ability to play as a female Wonder Girl character, hidden bonus areas, and the ability to independently switch graphics and sound between modern and retro. styles with additional options for visual filters and FM audio. This is the first time FM audio has been officially available in the Western version of the game.

On Metacritic, the game has 7.9 points from users, and on the Steam platform, 88% of positive reviews. You can pick up Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap for free here.
