Skull and Bones: new gameplay, development history and scandals
Ubisoft Singapore was founded in 2008, but has been an apprentice all this time and helped the main Ubisoft studios make games in the Assassin's Creed and Tom Clancy's series . In 2013, the team was finally given the opportunity to work on their own project. They became the pirate-themed third-person action Skull and Bones.
During development, the Singaporean team took inspiration from the naval combat on ships in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and made a spin-off for the main game. But then the project gradually grew into an independent game. The project has been reworked many times, genres, ideas, and much more have changed. The first trailer for the game was shown at E3 2017.
Initially, Skull and Bones was announced for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms. A year later, the development team shared the first gameplay trailer, but then the game disappeared from the information field, and the release date was constantly postponed.
Finally, last night, July 7, 2022, Ubisoft Singapore held a presentation of the updated Skull and Bones gameplay and shared the release date of the project. The game will be a multiplayer action game in the open world, where you will act as the captain of the ship. You will start with small boats, but over time you can develop into large flagships. Players will have access to leveling, which will take place by completing tasks and other activities on the map. The scene is the Indian Ocean, which will also be pirate bays. Users will be able to use them as a safe zone and a hub where they can replenish supplies and recruit new team members.
Skull and Bones will be released on November 8 this year. You can conquer the Indian Ocean with friends on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. The game is already available for pre-order.
