Development on STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl has recently resumed after being put on hold in February following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Studio GSC Game World was based in Kyiv, but she had to help her employees and their families to move, during this time she also changed the name of the game: now it's a hit STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

The game's launch was still scheduled for December, although given the circumstances, that seemed increasingly optimistic. On the Xbox and Bethesda presentation, the slide at the end of the presentation with a list of games that will be released within the next 12 months, there was information about the release of STALKER 2 in 2023.

STALKER 2 : Heart of Chornobyl

An open-world first-person shooter computer game developed by the Ukrainian company GSC Game World for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S . Should be the next game in theSTALKER series . As in the previous parts of the series, the actionof STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyltakes place in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant , where adventurers-"stalkers" penetrate in search of fantastic artifacts, but face mutants, anomalies and other dangers. The game is planned to combine elements of the first-person shooter , survival horror , and immersive sim genres , while also offering a vast open world to explore.

The game was originally announced in 2010 and was supposed to be released in 2012, but that initial project was canceled and the development team disbanded.
