Deathloop could get a sequel?
Jason Kelly, who gave his voice to Deathloop's Colt, spoke about working on a new project. He announced this on social media. Much attention was drawn to his words about the non-disclosure contract, which does not allow him to reveal more information. When users asked him if it was about some kind of addition, Jason Kelly answered in the negative and said that work was being done on a new title. There is a possibility that the case is not in Deathloop, but in another game series, but the #deathloop hashtag and the role of Colt indicated in his publication contradict this hypothesis.
Deathloop is an action-adventure game released by Arkane Studios on September 14, 2021. The latter is known for such titles as Dishonored, Prey, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and others. The game was first released on PC and PlayStation 5.
The main feature of Deathloop is the repetition of the same day throughout the game and the puzzles that are built around the concept of this event. The title tells about the main character Colt, who got into a time loop and, dying each time, is forced to return to the beginning of the day until he kills all eight bosses. He is opposed by the main antagonist Julianne, who is both under the control of artificial intelligence and under the control of another player.
The title was warmly received by both gaming journalists and the players themselves. The PC version and PS5 version on the main review aggregator Metacritic average scores of 88 out of 100 and 89 out of 100 respectively. In addition, the game won in the following categories:
- Critics' Choice (Golden Joystick Awards. 2021)
- Best Production (The Game Awards. 2021)
- Best Art Style (The Game Awards. 2021)
- Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction (DICE Awards. 2022)
The commercial success suggests that Deathloop 2 should be in development, as hinted at by Jason Kelly. More information about this will be announced later.
