Sony has officially introduced an analogue of the Xbox Game Pass

Sony has officially unveiled an updated PS Plus subscription format, which will now be distributed similarly to the Xbox Game Pass. The company will reportedly merge PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, offering players three subscription options.

PlayStation Plus

Players who sign up for the PlayStation Essential service will enjoy the same benefits as current PlayStation Plus users:

• Two free games every month.
• Personal discounts.
• Cloud storage for saved games.
• Access to the multiplayer game mode.

The PlayStation Plus Essential price remains the same as the current PlayStation Plus price:

• US: $9.99 per month/$24.99 for three months/$59.99 for a year.
• Europe: €8.99 per month/€24.99 for three months/€59.99 for a year.
• UK: £6.99 per month/£19.99 for three months/£49.99 for a year.
• Japan: ¥850 per month/¥2,150 for three months/¥5,143 for a year.

PlayStation Plus Extra

• PlayStation Plus Essential Benefits.
• Unlocks access to over 400 favorite PS4 and PS5 games, including hits from PlayStation Studios catalogs and third-party partners.

It is known that at launch the list of games will include Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal.

PlayStation Plus Extra cost:

• US: $14.99 per month/$39.99 for three months/$99.99 for a year.
• Europe: €13.99 per month/€39.99 for three months/€99.99 for a year.
• UK: £10.99 per month/£31.99 for three months/£83.99 for a year.
• Japan: ¥1,300 per month/¥3,600 for three months/¥8,600 for a year.

PlayStation Plus Premium

• Benefits of PlayStation Plus Essential and PlayStation Plus Extra.
• Unlocks access to 340 games, including: hits from PS3; catalog of favorite classic games from PlayStation, PS2 and PSP.
• Offers cloud access for original PlayStation, PS2, PSP and PS4 games offered in markets where PlayStation Now is currently available.
• Access to demo versions of future titles.

PlayStation Plus Premium price:

• US: $17.99 per month/$49.99 for three months/$119.99 for a year.
• Europe: €16.99 per month/€49.99 for three months/€119.99 for a year.
• UK: £13.99 per month/£39.99 for three months/£99.99 for a year.
• Japan: ¥1,550 per month/¥4,300 for three months/¥10,250 for a year.

PlayStation Plus Deluxe

For markets where there is no cloud transfer, Sony will be offering PlayStation Plus Deluxe at a lower price compared to PlayStation Plus Premium. It will include a catalog of various classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations to download and play. Players will benefit from PlayStation Plus Essential and PlayStation Plus Extra as well as access to demos of future titles. Local pricing for PlayStation Plus Deluxe will vary by market.

It is reported that the transition to the new PS Plus format will take place in June. It will roll out first in Asia, then in North America and Europe, and worldwide by the end of the first half of the year.
