Sony has officially introduced an analogue of the Xbox Game Pass

Sony has officially unveiled an updated PS Plus subscription format, which will now be distributed similarly to the Xbox Game Pass. The company will reportedly merge PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, offering players three subscription options.

PlayStation Plus

Players who sign up for the PlayStation Essential service will enjoy the same benefits as current PlayStation Plus users:

  • Two free games every month.
  • Personal discounts.
  • Cloud storage for saved games.
  • Access to the multiplayer game mode.

The PlayStation Plus Essential price remains the same as the current PlayStation Plus price:

PlayStation Plus Deluxe

For markets where there is no cloud transfer, Sony will be offering PlayStation Plus Deluxe at a lower price compared to PlayStation Plus Premium. It will include a catalog of various classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations to download and play. Players will benefit from PlayStation Plus Essential and PlayStation Plus Extra as well as access to demos of future titles. Local pricing for PlayStation Plus Deluxe will vary by market.

It is reported that the transition to the new PS Plus format will take place in June. It will roll out first in Asia, then in North America and Europe, and worldwide by the end of the first half of the year.
