Former Director of Product Marketing at Electronic Arts Kim Selzer shared some interesting information while visiting blogger The Real Brandolorian. On his podcast, Kim reported that in the early 2000s, Electronic Arts was developing an MMO based on the Harry Potter universe.

The company wanted to make the game very unusual and even send real gifts to children who received in-game achievements in the title. The plans were quite impressive, and Electronic Arts even wanted to make a large MMO franchise about Harry Potter. The game was being developed for some time and even managed to go into a beta build, but before the tests began, EA decided to abandon this project. The reason for this was the skeptical attitude of marketers towards this project. In the opinion of the management, interest in MMOs could fade away within a couple of years, and the ability of an MMO game to be independent was a big question.
