We will introduce players to a new name, and you may want to change yours. From October 22 to November 5, 2021, a free BattleTag change service will be offered to all players. It can be used by everyone who has not changed their nickname before. There is no additional option for changing BattleTags in the future.

In order to change your BattleTag in the Blizzard launcher, you will need to fill out a special form on the Battle Net website. Requests will be processed up to four weeks.

The renaming of Jesse McCree to Cole Cassidy is due to a scandal at Blizzard. The former game designer, after whom the cowboy was named, has been accused of repeated discrimination against his employees and even harassment. He left the company, but all Overwatch players continued to see his first and last name in the title every day. For this reason, Blizzard Entertainment has concluded that it is not possible to name game characters after employees. All references and references to Jesse McCree from World of Warcraft have also been removed.
