FIFA and Mythical Games Announce New Mobile Game FIFA Rivals
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), in collaboration with developer Mythical Games, has unveiled a new mobile game, FIFA Rivals.
The game will be available on Mythical’s dedicated platform, offering players exciting arcade gameplay. Additionally, users will have the opportunity to create their own football club and compete in PvP matches against others. FIFA Rivals will operate on a free-to-play model, featuring in-game purchases and a marketplace where players can buy and sell in-game characters on the Mythos blockchain.
According to the official announcement, the launch of FIFA Rivals marks “a new phase in the development of FIFA’s gaming and esports ecosystem.” This step continues FIFA’s strategy of expansion following the conclusion of its long-term partnership with Canadian developer and publisher Electronic Arts (EA).
In 2024, FIFA has been actively strengthening its presence in esports. In June, the organization launched the Football Manager FIFAe World Cup, while in October, it partnered with Japanese game developer KONAMI to promote esports within the football industry.
Mythical Games is no stranger to creating blockchain-based games. In November 2024, the developer collaborated with the National Football League (NFL) to release the arcade sports game NFL Rivals.
John Linden, CEO and founder of Mythical Games, commented on the partnership:
We are excited to partner with FIFA and leverage our expertise to create an unparalleled football gaming experience.
The combination of officially licensed football stars, prestigious clubs from around the world, and globally competitive esports gameplay will elevate sports gaming to a new level. Through this long-term partnership with FIFA, we have major plans to integrate with its esports platform, giving players worldwide the opportunity to become participants or fans.
It is now possible to subscribe to new announcements about the game on the official FIFA Rivals website. The game’s release is scheduled for the summer of 2025.
