T1 opens a new esports academy
South Korean esports organization T1 has announced the creation of an esports academy called T1 Esports Academy.
The academy, which kicks off in Seoul in early September, will initially offer courses in League of Legends. The organization also announced its intention to expand the academy to other disciplines. Note that T1 has already set up a dedicated academy located in its esports building where players can take advantage of the organization's capabilities.
T1 Esports Academy plans to offer two types of training, starting with the Path to Pro (PTP) course, an intensive academic program designed to prepare professional esports athletes. The organization will also issue a course for the future. According to a report from Inven Global, the course will be a series of activities for casual gamers looking to improve their gaming skills. Both courses will only be available to players who live in Korea.
The first Path to Pro course, starting next month, will consist of a five-month intensive training program divided into four phases. T1 has already announced that former professional players Sky and Untara will become teachers.
Successful candidates will first go through a one-month evaluation period before being trained in game theory and concepts for 14 weeks. The course will conclude with a final assessment, during which a group of players will be selected who will be given the opportunity to play for the organization's semi-professional team - T1 Rookies.
