Under its parent company Webedia, ES1 became the first dedicated esports TV channel in France. According to a press release, the channel has an average of 1.3 million monthly viewers and is promoting the French-speaking esports scene. ES1 was the official French broadcast partner of last year's EA Sports FIFA 20 Stay and Play Cup.

eLigue 1 is the official domestic FIFA 21 competition in France, organized by EA Sports and the French Football League. The tournament is part of the FIFA Global Series alongside ePremier League, eSerie A and eDivisie.

The fifth season of the tournament kicks off in early May with the chance to win € 40,000 and qualify for the FIFA Global Series European Playoffs.

This season, all 20 Ligue 1 Uber Eats clubs are represented in the championship, with each soccer team represented by one player on PS4 and Xbox, respectively.
