The flagship annual Evolution Championship Series was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment and RTS through a joint venture. The new strategy group will debut Evo 2021 Online later this year, the first fully online Evo event since Evo 2020 was canceled last year.
While Sony owns the Playstation platform on which many fighting games come out, Evo's Marc Julio confirmed that the tournament will continue to offer events across all gaming platforms.
Note that Evolution Championship Series co-founders Tony and Tom Cannon will remain key brand advisors for the tournament.
