Castrol sponsors King Pro League
Castrol today announced that it has signed a sponsorship deal with Chinese game publisher Tencent to host the main Honor of Kings championship, the King Pro League (KPL).
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Castrol is owned by British Petroleum (BP) and is the first oil brand to take an interest in the Chinese esports industry. In addition, the Spring Split King Pro League kicks off on March 8th. Tencent has yet to release the full list of the league's partners, but alongside Castrol, PUMA will be the exclusive partner.
Note that at the beginning of the year, TiMi Studios, developer of games for Honor of Kings, announced that the company will invest $ 154 million in the esports ecosystem of the game. Starting this year, the KPL prize pool (Spring Split and Fall Split) will multiply.
