OverActive Media dreams of building an e-sports site
OverActive Media, the parent company of Toronto Defiant, Toronto Ultra and MAD Lions, has announced plans to build a 7,000-seat esports and entertainment venue at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Canada.
The site, which is projected to be completed by 2025, will include a theater-style entertainment complex and a hotel complex, "and will also be the new home for teams competing in the Call of Duty League and the Overwatch League.
Once completed, the facility plans to host over 200 events per year, with most of them in the entertainment and music sector. The cost of the facility will be about $ 500 million.
According to a press release, the facility promotes OverActive Media's vision to make Toronto and Canada the venue for major tournaments for the global esports and gaming industry.
The object was conceived by the design firm Populous, with the composition of the building intended to create an iconic architectural heritage. Populous is well known for its work on Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London 2012 Olympic Games and State Farm Stadium.
