Call of Duty League 2021 structure announced
While the first season of the Call of Duty League was generally successful, fans of the discipline were unhappy with the format of the championship. But in the upcoming season of the Call of Duty League, fans will see a new tournament structure that promises to answer all of the audience's concerns.
Five-stage structure
The next 2021 Call of Duty League season will have five stages. Each stage will end with a major tournament. In each stage, all 12 teams will compete in five group stage matches, which will determine the seed for each Major. Additionally, each stage will include three Home Series tournaments leading up to the Major.
Major format
All major tournaments throughout the year will be played in a double-grid playoff format. The teams' seeding will be based on their performance in the previous three Home Series prior to the Major.
Call of Duty League Points Distribution
Call of Duty League points will continue to be important. Teams will receive CDL Points for every victory in group stage matches, and additional points will be awarded for teams performing in the Majors. CDL points are more important this year than ever, and only the top eight teams will qualify for the Call of Duty League Postseason.
Final information on the start date of the 2021 Call of Duty League season will arrive a little later. However, there are 15 Home Series championships and five Majors to be expected throughout the season.
