The Mayor of London's Sport United program sponsored LDN UTD. The latter will host a dedicated esports event in collaboration with several London universities.
Commentary by Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London:
“Over the past year, the growth in esports has been significant. This industry generates millions of pounds for our economy and also creates much-needed jobs for our community. Especially here in London. With this industry growth comes a level of responsibility. I am proud to be my Sport United program can help fund LDN UTD, which leverages its eSports platform and capabilities. "
Youngsters from four London boroughs, namely Kingston, Luisham, Hackney and Lambeth, will be able to attend The LDN UTD Inter-Borough Esports Championships. The event will host championships in two sports simulators: FIFA 21 and NBA 2K21. In addition, the event will feature lectures in which speakers will talk about finding a job in the esports industry. Lectures should not be empty words, and to consolidate the theory with practice, students will be asked to take appropriate courses in SMM, graphic design and video editing.
In order to try to attract young people who are versed in esports and those who love computer games, the organizers will invite professional esports player, FIFA player Tassal 'Tass' Rushan. On the international arena, he represents the interests of FaZe Clan and has signed a contract with them.
