Gaimin Gladiators Expands Reach for Esports World Cup 2024
Gaimin Gladiators, renowned for their successful Dota 2 team, are broadening their horizons for the prestigious Esports World Cup (EWC) 2024. They recently announced on their X (Twitter) account collaborations with the Indonesian Free Fire team INDOSTARS and the Malaysian MLBB Women team HomeGirls.
Venturing into Mobile Gaming
In addition to their success in PC gaming, Gaimin Gladiators have also ventured into mobile games with a PUBG MOBILE division. Unfortunately, they missed out on the 2024 EWC because they didn’t rank in the top 6 in the EMEA qualifier. Despite this setback, Gaimin Gladiators continue their battle by partnering with Southeast Asian teams in other mobile game titles.
INDOSTARS Collaboration
Competing under the name INDOSTARS x GG, INDOSTARS is one of the 18 teams in the Free Fire EWC 2024, contending for a total prize pool of $1,000,000 USD. The team is relatively new, having entered the local pro scene in April 2023. They tweeted on June 12, "Hopefully, this collaboration will make us soar higher, like the stars on our chest, and help us become the largest esports community team in Indonesia, partnering with Gaimin Gladiators."
HomeGirls Collaboration
HomeGirls, the MLBB women’s division of the Malaysian esports organization HomeBois, is the strongest team in the region, remaining undefeated with a 9-0 score during the Malaysia & Singapore qualifications. The EWC 2024 tournament for MLBB Women, named the MLBB Women's Invitational 2024, boasts a total prize pool of $500,000 USD.
Gaimin Gladiators' EWC 2024 Participation
As of now, Gaimin Gladiators have secured their participation in four game titles for EWC 2024: Dota 2, Apex Legends, Free Fire, and MLBB Women. These titles feature a combined total prize pool of $8,500,000 USD.
The organization may still qualify for additional titles, including Tekken 8, Fortnite, Overwatch 2, and others, further expanding their presence in the competitive esports landscape.
