Finnish esports organization KOVA retires from the scene
Finnish esports organization KOVA has announced its retirement from the scene. Timo Tarveinen, general manager of the club, spoke about this, adding that KOVA and its supporting company Esports Media Solutions Ltd have filed for bankruptcy since November 8, 2022.
I really don't know where to start here. This year has been an extremely difficult one for KOVA, and as a result of many really unfortunate coincidences, the company ran into financial difficulties in the fall of 2022, from which it ultimately did not extricate itself. This is something that is extremely difficult for me to deal with.
Although I was not a shareholder of KOVA, I was there from day one to build the player organization and competitive side of the company. I wanted to show and prove how personal, courageous and persistent efforts can go a long way. I felt that we are doing a lot of good things for Finnish esports and that there is still a lot to be done. But not everything always goes the way you think. Maybe that's why I feel so bad.
And finally, for my part, I am extremely sorry for all my colleagues, all the players, teams and the entire Finnish esports scene that represented KOVA. Wrapping up the KOVA story in this way doesn't do justice to the incredible journey we've been on over the past few years.
The KOVA organization was born in April 2019. In three and a half years, the club has managed to assemble rosters in CS:GO, VALORANT, Hearthstone, Starcraft 2, NHL, Rainbow Six and League of Legends disciplines.
In particular, such esportsmen as JESMUND (VALORANT), ottoNd (CS:GO) and doto (CS:GO) passed through the structure of the club. Well, the composition of the CS:GO organization has become a significant figure in the local scene, having won many championships and events.
