Michael Sherman is the new Head of Esports at Riot Games

Riot Games announced the personnel changes made in their organization. Michael Sherman has been promoted to head of the esports division. He will be responsible for the development of games such as TeamFight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra and Project L. The latest title is still in development and is a fighting game. The above three games belong to different game genres: auto battler, collectible card game and fighting game. It will be difficult for Sherman to satisfy the needs of each audience, as their tastes differ. However, senior leadership believes in the strength of the new esports director, and therefore the development of Sherman's unique strategies should proceed satisfactorily. Riot Games sees a need for such an appointment as their primary focus is on League of Legends and Valorant.

Michael's career began at Riot Games in 2014. He joined the company as a student in the League of Legends program and has now risen to the position of CEO. In 2020, he was in the LCS league, where he was developing the marketing department and improving communication.

Riot Games recently shared their plans for the future of TeamFight Tactics. They want to expand the esports component and add various tournaments and increase the prize pools of autobattler championships.

The release of Project L will take place no earlier than 2023 and may refresh the fighting industry. The developers of the game are directly associated with the Evolution Championship Series, the premier fighting game event. Recently Super Smash Bros. ceased its activities in EVO, and therefore Project L can hypothetically fill this gap and become a new full-fledged esports discipline.
