Andbox rebrands and rebrands as NYXL
North American esports organization Andbox has announced a rebranding and rebranding to NYXL. The club is reportedly aiming to make New York the "world capital of esports and gaming culture".
NYXL is committed to investing seven figures in New York City's gaming community over the next 12 months. The club also unveiled plans to build XLHQ, its own headquarters in Manhattan.
The headquarters will feature training grounds for esports athletes, as well as an event space that will act as a hub for the gaming community and content creators.
Mitchell Smith, NYXL CEO: "Our team is dedicated to building New York's esports programming, discovering new content creators, and directly creating new content and entertainment that will showcase our hometown. We see NYXL and esports as a major step forward in the New York economy. York and we are excited to build this sector and create massive events that will bring people from all over the world to the city."
Currently, NYXL is represented in the VALORANT discipline, and also owns franchises in the Call of Duty League (New York Subliners), Call of Duty Mobile (NSYL Mayhem) and Overwatch League (New York Excelsior).
The organization also announced the debut of the YXL Young Creator Project, an annual incubator program dedicated to identifying, supporting and promoting "the next generation of digital content creators in New York."
NYXL also announced an in-person esports event in Brooklyn in July to support The New York Subliners. It is expected that information about the championship will be published in the coming weeks.
