Manila Major Day 1 Matches: Groups Stages Recap
The 3rd Major before The Internationals - Manila Major has begun yesterday with the best teams with direct invitations and qualifications. With Day 1 of it passed, let's see what happened yesterday before going into Day 2 and another set of matches.
Group A Standings Rundown:
Considered to be the strongest team in the bracket, Newbee has always been expected to clean sweep. Taking 2-0 and dropping no games, they sit tightly on top of the bracket waiting for their next set of games. While the fan favorites, OG, has played the extra game in Day 1 as well as Team Empire. OG has dropped a game against the Russian team and lost a series game against Newbee, giving them a 2-1 status. Team Empire has won one game against the winless compLexity team and managed to take one game off OG. The next set of matches are to resume June 5th.
Group B Standings Rundown:
The most discussed group in social media is always expected to be surprising. That's definitely the case with Group B. Na'Vi is somewhat expectedly at the top, leading 2-0 without dropping even a single game. That wouldn't be so surprising if it weren't Team Secret, which had no wins whatsoever yesterday other than a great show against Wings, however, they weren't able to close out the series. Digital Complexity managed to overthrow the ESL One Manila Champions, Wings, twice - just dropping a game which was even a close call. Wings, however, managed to defeat Team Secret, dropping one game in the process.
