Gaimin Gladiators Captain Seleri Hopes for the Return of Party MMR in Dota 2
Melchior "Seleri" Hillenkamp, captain of the Gaimin Gladiators, recently expressed his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the state of matchmaking in Dota 2. Seleri shared his hopes for the return of party matchmaking, a feature that many players have missed.
In his post, Seleri reflected on reaching a new milestone in his matchmaking rating (MMR) and the challenges surrounding account integrity in the game:
"Not sure if it means much anymore these days, kinda keeping with tradition to post every 1k MMR gained. Hope they find a better way to deal with accounts being bought/sold, I imagine it's not easy.
Also maybe for Christmas we can get party MMR again? <3@DOTA2dual > solo 😢"
The tweet highlights a recurring issue within the Dota 2 community: the buying and selling of accounts, which disrupts competitive balance. Seleri's plea for a solution to this problem reflects the frustrations of many dedicated players.
In addition, his call for the return of party matchmaking (party MMR) touches on a nostalgic feature of Dota 2 that allowed players to queue for ranked games as a group, fostering a more cooperative and enjoyable experience. His post even adds a lighthearted wish for the feature to be reinstated as a "Christmas gift" for players.
The Dota 2 community has responded warmly to Seleri's tweet, with many echoing his sentiments and sharing their own hopes for improvements to the matchmaking system. Whether Valve will address these concerns in upcoming updates remains to be seen.
