According to calculations, about 90% of the consumed energy will be converted into useful heat that will flow into the greenhouse heating system. This will allow vegetables to be grown year-round even in the harsh Canadian climate, reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The project uses 360 liquid-cooled Avalon A1566 servers, which are integrated directly into the greenhouse infrastructure. The cost of electricity here is only $0.035 per kWh, making the initiative economically viable.

This step is part of a broader trend in the crypto industry: after 17 years of Bitcoin development (since its creation in 2009), mining is turning into dual-purpose infrastructure. Now, hash rate not only secures the network but also heats homes, greenhouses, and industrial facilities. In Canada, where renewable energy sources already account for 52% of total consumption in mining, such projects highlight the path to sustainability.

On the X platform, the news quickly gained traction. Users are sharing ideas about creative uses of heat from computations, from heating homes to industrial processes. One post notes:

"This proves that Bitcoin mining can be green, reducing CO2 emissions and lowering heating costs."

The pilot project will last 24 months and could become a model for similar initiatives worldwide. If you've "burned out" in crypto, maybe tomatoes from such greenhouses will become your new favorite, at least they're grown with the help of technologies you know! This innovation not only improves mining efficiency but also demonstrates how crypto can contribute to environmental solutions. Stay tuned for updates, as such projects could change the perception of the industry.
